Best Nutrition Book you can buy: Nutrition for Health and Health Care by Whitney

Eleanor Noss Whitney, et. al. Nutrition for Health and Health Care.

I looked through hundreds of nutrition textbooks at the University of California Public Health and Life Sciences libraries, and thought this was by far the best textbook.

I’m not a student, I’m just curious about nutrition, because everyday I read new information about health, diets, and nutrition. Is an all-protein diet good, should I go back to the paleolithic diet, or eat only gluten-free products? Most people will just go with their gut feelings and fall for quackery — at best losing some money and at worst harming their health.

How can you have any way of knowing who’s telling the truth if you don’t know what science understands about human nutrition?

The book is illustrated with clear photos, graphs, charts and the most up-to-date information. I refer to it all the time.

There are many editions of this book — get the latest if you can afford it, or an earlier version if you can’t, or check it out from your nearest university.

About Alice

I've milled and baked with whole grains for many years, because whole grains are delicious, and white flour is missing the nutrition that protects you from cancer, stroke, heart disease, diabetes and many other diseases. Plus it's a good emergency food.
